Creating Space for Connection, Culture & Belonging

The Music Depot Community Access Grants remove financial barriers so nonprofits and community groups can host meaningful events at Music Depot.

Each micro-grant provides free access to the venue, including basic production support, for events that serve the community and bring people together.

Whether you’re hosting a forum, a cultural celebration, or a youth workshop, we want to help you make it happen.

Who Can Apply

We welcome applications from:

  • 501(c)(3) nonprofits
  • Schools, PTAs, and youth organizations
  • Faith-based community programs (non-religious events)
  • Cultural, arts, wellness, and service-focused groups
  • Grassroots and volunteer-led organizations

 

Ineligible Uses

  • Political or campaign events
  • Private parties
  • Religious worship services

 

Grant Tiers

Applicants may apply under one of the following categories:

1. Community Gathering Grant

For meetings, forums, listening sessions, support groups, and civic engagement events.
Ideal attendance: 30–75 people

2. Cultural Activation Grant

For performances, heritage celebrations, storytelling, open mics, and creative showcases.
Ideal attendance: 50–100 people

3. Family & Youth Grant

For youth showcases, family programs, workshops, camps, and educational events.
Ideal attendance: 30–100 people

What the Grant Covers

Selected recipients receive:

  • Music Depot venue rental
  • Basic sound and lighting
  • On-site production staff
  • Standard room setup

Additional services may be requested at a reduced cost.

Priority Consideration

While all eligible applications are welcome, priority is given to:

  • First-time hosts at Music Depot
  • Grassroots or small-budget organizations
  • Events serving youth, families, or underserved communities
  • Events with expected attendance between 30–100 people

 

Application & Selection Process

  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis via Google Form
  • Applications are reviewed monthly by Music Moves staff
  • Two grants are awarded each month
  • Applicants are notified within three weeks of the deadline

 

Expectations of Grant Recipients

If selected, recipients agree to:

  • Keep the event free or low-cost (under $20)
  • Acknowledge Walmart and Music Moves as sponsors
  • Promote the event through at least one communication channel
  • Allow photo or video documentation
  • Submit a short post-event reflection

Why This Matters

The Music Depot Community Access Grants transform Music Depot into a true community access hub,  supporting 20–25 community-centered events annually while amplifying local voices, stories, and creativity.
